Hospital authorities informed him that NICU beds were unavailable, following which an altercation broke out.
During the confrontation, hospital staff members alleged that Mhatre assaulted doctors and nurses present at the facility. The incident sparked concern among medical professionals, who demanded strict action against those responsible for attacks on healthcare workers.

The following day, hospital staff protested by suspending routine services, affecting regular operations at the facility. The Indian Medical Association also demanded the arrest of those involved and called for improved security arrangements to protect medical personnel.
The Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) officials assured that a detailed investigation would be conducted and appropriate legal action would be taken. However, no arrests have been made so far in connection with the incident.
